, New research study from Harvard shows Nut consumption reduces risk of death

On Wednesday, the New England Journal of Medicine published a research study from Harvard that showed people who eat nuts on a daily basis are around 20% less likely to die of any cause than those who did not eats nuts regularly.

According to the study, which tracked over 118,000 men and women, the people ate a one ounces of tree nuts, such as walnuts and cashews, at least seven times per week had a lower mortality rate. Although the epidemiological study, which means it simply followed participants and tracked their lifestyles through surveys, could not exactly root out other factors for lowering the mortality rate, such as better eating habits and exercising more often, this study and other previous findings have shown a definite correlation between eating nuts and having a healthier lifestyle.

Findings from the study showed that those who ate nuts had a 25% less chance of dying from heart disease, a 10% less chance of dying from cancer, and a 20% less chance of dying from both diabetes and lung diseases.
